The Honeywell SmartVFD Commissioning Tool allows users to commission, operate, and troubleshoot their VFD from their PC. Additionally, the SmartVFD Commissioning Tool has a firmware loading tool under the tools drop down. The software works similar to the NCDrive and NCLoad tools that are available for our NX family of drives.
SmartVFD HVAC Firmware Update Process:
To upgrade to the latest version of the SmartVFD HVAC software, follow these steps:
1. Have the most recent version of the PC software SmartVFD Commissioning Tool
2. Open the SmartVFD Commissioning tool, while connected to the drive and select "online" mode.
3. Start the Launch loading Tool under Tools and load the next firmware files. The tool will ask you to
browse for the firmware file you want to download, See instructions below:
4. Verify the existing firmware is XML based (FW00778V or greater) in parameter V4.6.1. If yes, skip to step 5.
a.Download the software: XML.zip (Save the file to your hard drive, Extract the 2 files in the folder. The password is "smartsmart".
b.Via the software Loading Tool install the "Download this first to the drive.vcx". This process will take a couple of minutes, then move to step 5.
5. Download the FW0078V007.zip (Save the file to your hard drive, extract the file.) The password is "smartsmart". Install the FW0078V007.vcx file. Select the Amercas landing pack, English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese. Cycle power your VFD when complete.

To upload firmware on to a SmartVFD COMPACT the MCA device is required, part number HVFDCDMCAKIT, which includes the MCA and the connection cable. Click here to see MCA instructions
