Honeywell's New Wireless Sensors Reduce Installation Costs, Help Boost Building Performance

DALLAS, March 30, 2009 – Honeywell (NYSE: HON) today introduced a family of wireless temperature sensors to help contractors reduce labor and material costs over installing hardwired sensors, particularly in retrofit applications.

TR20™ wireless sensors, which integrate with a wide range of controllers, offer the benefits of conventional wired sensors, such as enabling fully automatic building automation control that improves energy efficiency. However, because the TR20 wireless sensors install without wires and conduits, they give contractors application flexibility.

“TR20 wireless sensors let contractors provide all the benefits of wired sensors, but they install significantly faster, especially in retrofit jobs,” says Dave Molin, general manager, Honeywell Building Control Systems. “Going wireless also adds flexibility, preserves the building’s appearance, spares walls and trim, and eliminates the need to patch walls or fix trim damage.”

Applications from vintage hotels and historical buildings to modern office facilities all represent opportunities for contractors to save time and money with TR20 wireless sensors.

Simple to understand, easy to install

Installing the wireless sensors is easy. Put up the wall module and wire the receiver to the controller: Communication starts automatically. No field configuration is necessary. Sensors and receivers are shipped together as a kit. Two kits cover most applications, which simplify contractor inventories. An LED indicator on the sensor immediately indicates whether the RF signal is strong, eliminating guesswork.

All TR20 wireless sensors report space temperature. Selected models also offer setpoint adjustment and override.
